Drivers age 50 and over have the opportunity to reduce their car insurance premiums and get a driving refresher at the same time.
The Senior Safe Driving Program is a two-day event that will be held October 23-24 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Minier. The course is sponsored by First Farmers State Bank, the Minier Police Department, RSVP and AARP.
The class is free of charge as the course costs will be covered by the bank and police department. However, space is limited and pre-registration is required. To register, complete the form below or call First Farmers’ Amy Crump at (309)392-2623. The deadline to sign up is October 15. Refreshments will be provided.
Course objectives include defensive driving tactics, new traffic laws and adjusting driving to changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. There is no test to take, and most insurance companies provide a multi-year discount* to participants who graduate from the course.
*Contact your particular insurance carrier to see if you are eligible for a discount.
